"Serial Range MZ260 - MZ264. 5 Stirling Mk.111. One of five replacement aircraft for N6025-N6028 with N6031 destroyed whilst under construction by enemy action. Delivered by Short & Harland in May43. Contract No.774677/38. MZ261 was one of three 218 Sqdn Stirlings lost on this operation. See: BF478; BF528. Airborne 2315 23may43 from Chedburgh. Cause of loss not established. Crashed at Unna, 15 km ENE of Dortmund, where all were buried 2Jun43 in the Haupftfriedhof (Am Gottesacker). They have been subsequently re-interred in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery. P/O Liddle came from Cape Town, South Africa; their average age of the crew was 22.
