"Serial Range NA543 - NA587. 45 Halifax Mk.111. Part of a batch of 180 HP61 Halifax Mk.B.111. NA492-NA531; NA543- NA587; NA599-NA644; NA656-NA704. Delivered by Fairey Aviation (Stockport) between 9Jun44 and 19Jul44. NA563 was one of two 640 Sqdn Halifaxes lost on this operation. See: LW654. Airborne 2056 10Aug44 from Leconfield to bomb the railway junction. Cause of loss not established. Crashed at Gouloux (Nievre), 5 km NE of Montsauche. All were buried locally by the Maquis. Their graves are now located in Nantes (Pont-du-Cens) Communal Cemetery. P/O Hellegers was a Belgian whose parents, Clement and Jane Hellegers, lived at Lanaken.
