"Serial Range Z9200 - Z9232. 33 Whitley Mk.V. Delivered by Armstrong Whitworth Aircraft between 14Sep41 and 12Oct41.Contract No.106962/40 Z9227 was initially delivered to No.10 Sqdn. Airborne 1915 12Mar41 from Linton-on-Ouse. Shot down by a night- fighter (Oblt Ludwig becker, 4./NJG1) and crashed 2304 into the Wadnzee between the mainland and Ameland. Two bodies were recovered; P/O Johnstone is now buried in Jonkerbos War Cemetery having been in Hollum Churchyard untiol 1952, while Sgt Dykes is interred on ameland inNes General Cemetery. Less than a month later, on 7Apr42, the Sqdn was transferred to Coastal Command. In the spring of 1943, 58 Sqdn was heavily committed during ant-submarine operations over the Bay of Biscay. "
