"Serial Range ED303 - EE202 This aircraft was one of 620 Lancasters ordered from A.V.Roe (Chadderton) in 1941 and built from Nov42 to Jun43 as 129 Mk.1s and 491 Mk.111s, mixed up to Ed782 and all as Mk.111s from Ed783 onwards. The Mk.1s were initially fitted with Merlin 20 and the Mk.111s with Merlin 28 engines. EE138 was delivered to 460 Sqdn 31May43 Took part in the following Key Operations: D_sseldorf 11/12Jun43; Bochum 12/13Jun43; Oberhausen 14/15Jun43; Berlin 3/4Sep43-Lost. When lost this aircraft had a total of 174.5 hours EE138 was one of three 460 Sqdn Lancasters lost on this operation. See: W4988; EE132. Airborne 1958 3Sep43 from Binbrook. Homebound, shot down by a night- fighter and crashed 0241 4Sep43 into marshy ground at Vestager, 11 km WNW of Ringkobing, Denmark. Despite an extensive search of the area, the only discernible evidence founf was a notebook belonging to S/L Kelaher. They are all commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
