"Serial Range JA672 - JB748 This aircraft was one of a batch of 550 Lancasters ordered from A.V.Roe (Chadderton) in late 1941 and delivered as Mk.111 from June to December 1943 with Merlin 28 engines initially installed in early production, with Merlin 28 or 38 engines in mid-production and with Merlin 38 engines in late production. JB715 was delivered to 12 Squadron 30Nov43 No other Key Operations Airborne 1614hrs 16Dec43 from Wickenby. On return crashed 2354hrs 16Dec43 at Hainton, 9 miles WSW of Louth, Lincs. Sgt Whitley was critically injured and died shortly after being admitted to Louth Hospital. Both Australians are buried in Cambridge City Cemetery whilst the others are buried in various towns and villages within the UK.
