"Serial Range ED303 - EE202 This aircraft was one of 620 Lancasters ordered from A.V.Roe (Chadderton) in 1941 and built from Nov42 to Jun43 as 129 Mk.1s and 491 Mk.111, mixed up to ED782 and all as Mk.111 from ED783 onwards. Mk.1s were initially fitted with Merlin 20 and Mk.111s with Merlin 28 engines. ED451 was a Mk.1 and was delivered to 106 Sqdn 8Jan43. ED451 took part in the following Key Operations: D_sseldorf 27/28Jan43; Hamburg 30/31Jan43; Lorient 13/14Feb43; Berlin 1/2Mar43; Nuremburg 8/9Mar43; Berlin 27/28Mar43; Berlin 29/30Mar43; Essen 3/4apr43; Pilsen 16/17Apr43; Stettin 20/21Apr43; Essen 30Apr/1May43-Lost When lost this aircraft had a total of 240 hours Airborne 2355 30Apr43 from Syerston. Crashed at Wulfen, a town on the E bank of the River Wient, 7 km NE of Dorsten. All were buried at Wulfen, but they have been subsequently re-interred in the Reichswald Forest war Cemetery.
