"Serial Range ME295 - ME551 This aircraft was one of 200 Lancasters ordered from A.V.Roe (Yeadon) in May42 and built as 44 Mk.1s and 156 Mk.111s from Oct44 to Mar45. Merlin 22 engines were fitted in Mk.1s, and in Mk.111s, Merlin 38 engines up to ME376 and Merlin 224 engines thereafter. ME335 was a Mk.111 delivered to No.35 Squadron ex-32MU Nov44 Took part in the following Key Operations: Cologne 24/25Dec44; Hannover 5/6Jan45; Bonn 4/5Feb45. Airborne 2026 21Feb45 from Graveley. F/O Golden is buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery. F/S Spedding and W/O Perry had their awards Gazetted 24Jul and 19Jan45 respectively. It is believed that F/L Osmond had flown around 70 operational tours. Note. F/O Robert M.Hilliard DFC RAAF who flew with F/O Osmond between Jul43 and Oct44 reports that F/L Osmond commenced operational flying in Jul43 with No.466 Sqdn before being posted for PFF duties with No.35 Sqdn. Sadly, he was killed in a motor- cycle crash in Jan46, soon after returning to Western Australia. ME335 was one of two No.35 Sqdn Lancasters lost on this operation.
