"Serial Range ED303 - EE202 This aircraft was one of 620 Lancasters ordered from A.V.Roe (Chadderton) in 1941 and built from Nov42 to Jun43 as 129 Mk.1s and 491 Mk.111s in a mixed production run up to ED782 and all as Mk.111s from ED783 onwards. The Mk.1s were initially fitted with Merlin 20 and the Mk.111s with Merlin 28 engines. ED910 was one of eight 617 Sqdn Lancasters lost on this operation. See: ED864; ED865; ED887; ED925; ED927; ED934; ED937 ED910/G was a Mk.1 and a Type 464 (Provisioning) Lancaster and was delivered to No.617 Sqdn 28Apr43. Lost on its first Key Operation with a total of 20 hours. Airborne 0009 17May43 from Scampton in the third wave of Operation Chastise, tasked to bomb the Lister Dam. Hit by light Flak, crashing 0235 on the Boselagerschen Wald near Heesen, 3 km NNE of Hamm. Those killed are buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery. Those holding awards had all previously served on No.207 Sqdn and details were published 29Jun45 and 14May43 respectively. A cross marks the spot where the Lancaster crashed. Sgt Tees died in 1982 and following cremation his ashes were taken to Germany to lie alongside the graves of his comrades.
